Projects

David has worked on over 200 projects during his career.  Here is a selection of recent projects he has particularly enjoyed, either on his own or in collaboration with others through Insight Collective Ltd.

Insight Collective Ltd was funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise to work with Ormlie Community Association in order to assess the social enterprise potential of a project, called Junk2Funk, involving the refurbishment of un-wanted furniture through arts and crafts.  The quality of the furniture produced by the small group of volunteers was excellent and various market opportunities were identified.
David was part of the Anna Evans Housing Consultancy team which carried out an evaluation of two co-production pilot schemes in North Lanarkshire and Argyll and Bute on behalf of the Scottish Government.  The project involved on-going contact with the pilots as observers and the writing of a report highlighting lessons and good practice.
Insight Collective Ltd was commissioned by the Tayside Community Justice Authority to assess the readiness of public and voluntary services in three local authority areas to deliver the Caledonian Programme.  The Caledonian Programme is a Scottish Government supported model for working with those engaged in or at risk of domestic abuse.
David, working with regular collaborator Nick Hopkins Consulting, was part of the team which evaluated the Glasgow Lodging House Mission’s Pathways 2 Empowerment Programme.  This was a programme of learning activities designed to address the employability needs of homeless people in the City.
Insight Collective Ltd, supported by Nick Hopkins Consulting and Niall Alexander, developed a Debt Prevention Strategy for Sheffield First in response to the economic recession, addressing the needs of individuals, communities and businesses.  The team was retained to help develop specific health and business related projects.
David was part of the Cambridge Economic Associates team commissioned to evaluate the Highlands and Islands Enterprise Strategic Partnership with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).  This involved conducting an interview programme with some of the country’s most aspiring, ambitious and gifted technology companies to ascertain the value of links to MIT.
Insight Collective Ltd, following the evaluation of a financial capability project called Money Answers, worked with Fife Community Planning Partners and the Fife Workforce Plus Partnership to develop the content of a pilot training programme for staff in frontline services.  The purpose of the training was to improve joint working around the longer-term progression of clients amongst health, housing, social care and employability services.
